Featuring a Baritone soloist, with short Tenor and Bass solos, this arrangement of Holst’s enduring In the Bleak Midwinter is set against the backdrop of a large a cappella chorus. Inspired by Rossetti’s descriptive lyrics, the divisi in the vast choral writing allows a large chorus to paint the images evoked in this poem juxtaposing the intimacy of the solo verses with the exuberance of the heavenly chorus.
