]]> As a child I loved this haunting melody that seemed so outside of the popular Christmas fare.  Specifically, I found Julie Andrew’s recording of this carol on her 1975 album, The Secret of Christmas, so completely compelling.  That recording inspires this arrangement with an alto and soprano echo solo and complex added note chords which intensify the mysterious and confounding lyrics of this carol.

]]> Featuring a Baritone soloist, with short Tenor and Bass solos, this arrangement of Holst’s enduring In the Bleak Midwinter is set against the backdrop of a large a cappella chorus. Inspired by Rossetti’s descriptive lyrics, the divisi in the vast choral writing allows a large chorus to paint the images evoked in this poem juxtaposing the intimacy of the solo verses with the exuberance of the heavenly chorus.
